Reinvestment Zone Number Nine, City of Houston, was created on December 17, 1997 by the City Council of the City of Houston, Texas by Ordinance No. 97-1570 and Chapter 311 of the Texas Tax Code. The Zone is located in southwest Houston, just outside of Loop 610, at the intersection of South Post Oak and West Orem Drive. The Zone was created with the purpose of developing a 247-acres master planned community, called Corinthian Pointe. The City adopted the Zone’s Project Plan and Financing Plan on July 14, 1999, by Ordinance No. 99-721, and the First Amended Project Plan and Reinvestment Zone Financing Plan on August 11, 1999, by Ordinance No. 99-582. The Project Plan and Financing Plan were later amended in 2015 to extend the boundaries and duration of the Zone. The Zone now encompasses 1,775 acres. Expansion of the TIRZ boundaries allows the vision of the original plan to continue and to fund additional infrastructure improvements in the area.
